Currently, background checks are being required for all officers overseeing activities exclusive to youth.  In the case of martial participants in Northshield - youth boffer combat marshals.

Current status as of 6/30/08:  Background checks have been submitted to be done by the third party organization designated by the SCA.  Results are starting to return.

Northshield no longer has 'youth marshals' for either armored combat or rapier combat.  Any warranted marshal for either activity can train or fight with any person old enough to qualify for those activities.  Youth marshals now describe only those people who are warranted to oversee youth boffer combat, ages 6-17.

Any activity which is comprised exclusively of youth participants must have a marshal or officer with a background check to supervise them.  This means practices, gatherings as well as activities at events.  If you are a youth marshal and wish to apply for a background check, please contact the Kingdom Seneschal.
